27.08.2015 Creative Jubilee of Distinguished Artist of Russia Galina Veretelnikova

We congratulate Galina S. Veretelnikova (Mikhailichenko) with her creative jubilee: August 27 marked 30 years of the actress’s servicing on the Alexandrinsky Stage. Galina S. Veretelnikova came to the Russian Academy Pushkin Theater in 1985, already an experienced master with working background at both provincial theater stages and stages of such prominent Leningrad theaters as the Lenin Komsomol Theater (presently the Baltic House Festival Theater) and BDT. The actress has played more than twenty major and bit-part roles of Russian and international repertoire on the Alexandrinsky Stage. The most recent actress’s roles included jobs in the performances Ksenia. The History of Love  after the paly of a modern playwright Vadim Levanov (2009, Director Valery Fokin), Hamlet by W. Shakespeare (2010, Director Valery Fokin); Your Gogol (2011, Director Valery Fokin); she also participated in the Nevsky Ave. City Sketches theater project Masquerade. Remembrance of the Future " after Mikhail Lermontov’s drama Masquerade and Vsevolod Meyerhold’s performance of 1917 (the role of Nun, 2014, Director Valery Fokin).

27.08.2015 Press-Conference on the Opening of the 260th Season of the Alexandrinsky Theater 

On August 31, a press-conference dedicated to the opening of the 260th Season of the Alexandrinsky Theater and the 9th International Alexandrinsky Theater Festival will take place at the Tsar’s Lobby of the Alexandrinsky Theater (6 Ostrovsky Sq.) at 2 p.m. The guests will be introduced to the theater’s creative plans for the new season; particularly, two September premieres will be announced: C. Gozzi’s  The Raven in Nickolay Roshchin’s  production on the Main Stage and W. Shakespeare’s Mackbeth  produced by Krzystof Garbachevski  on the New Stage; both premieres are included in the program of the Ninth International Alexandrinsky Theater Festival. Registration for media credentials for festival events will be available.

26.08.2015 Nominees of the Golden Soffit-2015 Award Have Been Announced
The New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater was nominated in four nominations in the “State Theaters” section of the top St. Petersburg theater award “The Golden Soffit” for the 2014/2015 season. Three of the nominations are for the performance The Earth: for “The Best Performance on the Main Stage;” “The Best Director” (Maxim Didenko), and “The Best Male Role” (Filipp Dyachkov). Actress Maria Zimina was nominated in the fourth nomination, for the “Best Secondary Role,” for her job in Marat Gatsalov’s performance Telluria.  Congratulations!

24.08.2015 Opening of the Exhibit “We Have Met You Again...”
On August 25, 2015, the exhibit “We Have Met You Again...” dedicated to compositions and writings about life and writings of Mikhail Yu. Lermontov will open at the Central M.Yu. Lermontov Library (19 Liteyny Ave.). The Alexandrinsky Theater provided for the exposition theatrical and historical materials for B.A. Lavrenev’s performance Lermontov (Director B.M. Dmokhovsky, 1953): photos, programs, parts of the musical script, property items (stage property clock and decorative sculptures) and also 8 stage costumes created after sketches of the prominent artist A.F. Bosulayev. The exposition also presents materials about creators of the Lermontov performance: director Boris Dmokhovsky, artist Anatoly Bosulayev, composer Ivan Dzerzhinsky, choreographer Nickolay Ivanovsky, historian/consultant Vladislav Glinka. The exhibit will be open till November 30, 2015 during the working hours of the Library. Admittance is free. The exhibit was organized under the frames of the cultural and educational project “M.Yu. Lermontov: the Heritage” and it is included in the “Literature Year” all-Russia program. 


19.08.2015 Galina Karelina Has Beed Honored with the Special Prize of the Expert Council of “The Golden Soffit” Award
We congratulate People’s Artist of Russia  Galina T. Karelina with granting her the Special Prize of the Expert Council of the top St. Petersburg theater award “The Golden Soffit ” for “The overwhelming creative enthusiasm and self-denying contribution in the progress of studios movement.” 

The official award ceremony will take place on November 9, 2015, on the stage of the Bryantsev TYUZ Theater.

10.08.2015 Alexandrinsky Theater Orchestra Musician Svyatoslav Chereshnichenko Passed Away
On August 8, 2015, Alexandrinsky Theater Orchestra Musician Svyatoslav Chereshnichenko passed away after a lengthy illness. Svyatoslav Chereshnichenko was invited to the Alexandrinsky Theater as a musician after graduated from the St. Petersburg State Theater Academy in 2008. He also played bit-part roles as a dramatic actor. In 2013, he played the role of Comedian in the Theater Ghosts and participated in the round dance of masks in Masquerade. Remembrance of the Future (2014).
You can pay last respects to Chereshnichenko on August 12, at noon, in the City of Slantsy, Leningrad Region (#50 Kirova Str.); later on, the actor will be buried at the Sosnovka Township cemetery.  

03.08.2015 Jubilee of People’s Artist of Russia Victor F. Smirnov
On August 4, 2015, People’s Artist of Russia Victor Smirnov will turn 70. He was admitted to the Alexandrinsky Theater Company in 1983. His first job on this stage, the role of Pugachev in the legendary Rostislav Goryayev’s performance The Captain’s Daughter after Pushkin’s novel, had right away placed the actor in the line of leading theater’s masters. The following chain of Victor Smirnov’s jobs had no pass-by roles. The unique powerful capacity of the actor’s talent has been on high demand among directors of various generations and theater schools, while the images he had created inspired admiration and respect of public and critics. The list of his roles produced in the new century includes such major roles as Judge Lyapkin-Tyapkin and Polonius in Valery Fokin’s The Inspector General and Hamlet; Ivan Nikiforovich Dogochkhun in The Ivans after N. Gogol’s story How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich and other N. Gogol’s writings (director Andrey Moguchy). In November 2014, actor’s repertoire was replenished with the documentary, publicist and psychologically eloquent while grotesque job in the young director Mikhail Patlasov’s performance The Noise, in which he had played the role of the main character’s father. In March 2015, in the “Monologues in the Tsar’s Lobby” cycle of one-man-shows of the leading actors of the Alexandrinsky Stage, the first night of Victor Smirnov’s show Reading the Favorite Pages Again… took place; this performance became the first and an essential contribution of the Alexandrinsky Theater to the Year of Literature in Russia. On the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater, performance Roads was produced after writings of the Russian literature and dedicated to the Year of Literature (March 2015); masterly recited by the actor, Pushkin’s lyrics became the philosophical epilogue of the performance. Presently, Victor Smirnov rehearses the role of Magician Norando in Nickolay Roshchin’s The Raven after Carlo Gozzi’s play of the same title. 


24.07.2015 Tour of the Alexandrinsky Theater in China

In August 2015, the Alexandrinsky Theater will go on a tour to China. Valery Fokin’s The Inspector General  after N. Gogol’s comedy of the same title will be presented on August 7, 8, and 9 in Beijing on the stage of the Beijing People’s Theater and on August 12 and 13, in Shanghai on the stage of the Big Shanghai Theater.

10.07.2015 Alexandrinsky Theater Actor Vladislav V. Ryndin Passed Away
Vladislav V. Ryndin was born on August 04, 1937. In 1965, he graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music, and Cinema. He had come to the Pushkin Academy Drama Theater in 1983, already an experienced master with numerous roles in modern and classic repertoire in his background. In the three decades of servicing on the Alexandrinsky stage, he had played more than 40 roles. The characters he had created were marked with psychological accuracy and detailed elaboration of their personalities. In the recent years, the actor’s repertoire included: the role of Gendarme in Valery Fokin’s performance The Inspector General; the role of Mirgorod Court Secretary Taras Tikhonovich in Andrey Moguchy’s performance The Ivans; participation in Valery Fokin's performances Ksenia. The History of Love and Hamlet, and Andrey Moguchy’s performance The Fortune. 

 Vladislav V. Ryndin had passed away on July 1, 2015 in the city of Engels, Saratov Region, and was buried by his family on July 7, 2015, at the local cemetery.

02.07.2015 His Majesty Official. The Last Director of Imperial Theaters Vladislav A. Telyakovsky Exhibit
Today, July 2, 2015, at 17.00, the exhibit His Majesty Official. The Last Director of Imperial Theaters Vladislav A. Telyakovsky will open at the Sheremetyev Palace (34 Fontanka Embankment). The exhibit will tell about the life of Imperial Theaters of pre-revolutionary Russia. It was created on the basis of “Memoires” and “Diaries” which Telyakovsky had been keeping for twenty years, diarizing events daily. Authors of the exposition had built it up as a story told by Vladimir Telyakovsky himself; his lively mind and sharpness of his observations expose to us the most exciting picture of the full of intrigues theater life of the early 20th century. All captions at the exhibit are quotations from his sayings. Exhibit items serve as in-kind illustrations to his sayings. Absolute majority of the materials presented tell about St. Petersburg theaters.
