On August 31, a press-conference dedicated to the start of the 260th jubilee Alexandrinsky Theater season and the 9th International Alexandrinsky Theater Festival †took place. Artistic Director Valery Fokin† told about the theaterís plans for the new 260th season. The season will start for public on September 12 and 13 with the 9th International Alexandrinsky Theater Festival; the premiere of The Raven after Carlo Gozziís play of the same name (The main Stage) will give the start. Leading theater companies from Italy, Taiwan, France, China, and Finland will take part in the festival program. 
The Alexandrinsky Theater is getting ready to come up with two premieres in February 2016: Valery Fokinís performance Today. 2016 on the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater and Andriy Zholdakís The Three Sisters after A.P. Chekhov play of the same title on the Main Stage. A major tour in Moscow is scheduled for spring; performances of both the Major and New Stages of the Alexandrinsky Theater will be presented there. The theaterís plans for touring also include Hungary (Budapest) and Italy (Naples).

Shakespeareís tragedy Macbeth will take place; the performance is included in the program of the Alexandrinsky Festival. 00.00.0000 Contemporary European Drama on the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater. Estonian plays.
On September 28 Ė 30, the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater will present the second part of the broad-scale project ďContemporary European Drama on the New Stage.Ē This time, Estonian plays will be in the focal point of the project. The project as a whole is meant to introduce modern European drama to Russian public and launch professional exchanges between Russian and European playwrights. The first, Danish, block took place last June: it consisted of four reads-through and a round table on the issues of contemporary drama. The Estonian block will start on September 28 with a lecture of a famous Estonian theater historian and translator Swan Karya about the ďFourth Wave of Estonian Drama.Ē The first read-through is scheduled right after the lecture; it will be followed with a public discussion. On September 29 and 30, two more theater reads-through followed by discussions will take place. †

00.00.0000 Presentation of Liisa Byuklingís book Reflection of the Russian Soul in the Mirror of North
Under the frames of the off-program of the Ninth International Alexandrinsky Theater Festival, on September 25, presentation of the book Reflection of the Russian Soul in the Mirror of North by Dr. Liisa Byukling, prominent Finnish theater historian and professor of the Helsinki University, will take place at 15:00 in the Tsarís Lobby. The book is dedicated to Finnish-Russian literature and theater connections of the 19th Ė 20th century. Presenting her new book, Liisa Byukling will share with her readers her archive historical findings and living impressions from performances and meetings with masters of the Finnish and Russian stage; she will show unique graphic materials. St. Petersburg theater historians will also take part in the presentation.

The Inter-Disciplinary Laboratory ďAbove the BarriersĒ is a broad-scale project sponsored by the Goethe Institute in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Ukraine, and Germany. Implementation of the project is scheduled for three years (2015-2017). The New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater is the St. Petersburg partner of the project. †
