03.11.2015 Nominees for the Golden Mask Award have been announced 


The 2014/2015 theater season nominees for the Russian National Theater Golden Mask Award and Festival have been announced today at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theater. The Alexandrinsky Theater was recognized in 11 nominations.

02.11.2015 The Jubilee Program for Valery Fokins 70th Birthday 

On November 4, a sequence of events dedicated to the 70th birthday of Artistic Director of the Alexandrinsky Theater Valery Fokin will take start at the theater. November 4 and 5 performances of The Overcoat directed at the Moscow Sovremennik Theater by Valery Fokin after N. Gogols play will open the jubilee billboard on the New Stage (with Marina Neyolova in the role of Akaky Bashmachkin).

26.10.2015 PREMIERE of a Children Performance on the New Stage: The Fairy tales Birthday
On October 31 and November 5 and 6, premiere presentations of the new performance for children of 5 to 9 years The Fairy Tales Birthday will take place on the New Stage. One part of the performance is made in the popular quest genre, while the other one goes as multimedia readings, where academy acting style, classic texts of Russian fairy tales, best masterpieces of the Russian artistic culture, and multimedia technologies are combined. Authorial background animation has been created for a number of fairy tales. The artistic concept and animation style are based on the images of Russian classic paintings and graphics of the early 20th century artists (Leo Baxt, Ivan Bilibin, Alexander Golovin, Mikhail Vrubel, Konstantin Korovin, Boris Kustodiev, Nickolay Roerich, and others). 


01.10.2015 King Lear from the Contemporary Legend Theater on the Alexandrinsky Stage
King Lear from the Contemporary Legend Theater, Taiwan, continues the Alexandrinsky Festival. Director and the leading actor Wu Hsing-Kuohas adapted W. Shakespeares tragedy to the style of the Beijing Opera, bringing together traditional Chinese theater and the contemporary stage art.

Mater-class of the Artistic Director of the Contemporary Legend Theater, producer and virtuoso actor Wu Hsing-Kuo will take place on October 2 at 4:00 p.m.; access by invitations. 

 King Learwill be presented on the Main Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater on October 3 and 4, at 7:00 p.m. Ticket costs vary from RR 300 to RR 1500. The theater booth is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with lunch break from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Telephone: 312-15-45

30.09.2015 Ladies World. Browsing through Pages of Ladies Magazines of the Late 19th Early 20th Century Exhibit 

On September 30, 2015, at 17:00, opening of the exhibit Ladies World: Browsing through Pages of Ladies Magazines of the Late 19th Early 20th Century. 
The Alexandrinsky Theater provided this exhibit with 24 ladies outfits, shoes, accessories, and furniture items attributed to the turn of the century from the funds of the Russian Drama Museum. These include stage gowns from such performances as The Symphony by M. Musorgsky (1891), The Second Youth by P.M. Nevezhin (1899), Summer Lightning by V. Tunoshensky (1902), Lord Quacks by A. Pinero (1903), Ivanov by A.P. Chekhov (Director Yu.E. Ozarovsky, 1909), and others. The exposition is also based on items of everyday life from private and museum collections and pieces of decorative and applied arts (varying from the Faberge Company and Imperial Porcelain Factorys productions to individual craft producers jobs), painting and graphics, and ladies cloths (from underwear to official outfits), accessories, perfumes, personal hygiene and beauty items, advertising materials, magazines and specialized books. The exhibit will be open till February 15, 2016.

29.09.2015 A tour of the Satiricon Theater. Press-conference at the Alexandrinsky Theater
On September 30, at 12.00, a press-conference dedicated to the tour of the Satiricon Theater in St. Petersburg (November 5-22) will take place at the Tsars Lobby. The tour is timed with the 65th birthday of the theaters Artistic Director Konstantin Raikin;it will be a part of the celebration program for the 70th birthday of the Artistic Director of the Alexandrinsky TheaterValery Fokin, also to be told about at the press-conference. Under the frames of the tour, Valery Fokins performance An Evening with Dostoyevsky will be shown on November 21 and 22 on the Alexandrinsky Stage.

23.09.2015 The New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater Will Take Part in the Chekhov Is Alive Project
The New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater joined the international project Chekhov Is Alive organized by Google, MKhT named after Chekhov, and the Russian Biblio Union. On September 15, theatrical online readings of A. Chekhovs compositions will take place on the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater and theater stages in more than twenty cities of the world from Cambridge to Hong Kong and Sakhalin. Collectively, we will bring together the classic literature, contemporary theater, and technologies, and we will present the writers creative heritage in the new digital format. 



22.09.2015 First Night of Krzysztof Garbaczewski's performance MAKBETH on the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater"
The first nights ofKrzysztof Garbaczewski's performance Makbeth on September25, 26 and 27 will give start to the program of theNinth International Alexandrinsky Theater Festival on the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater. Garbaczewski, the leader of the new Polish theater production, is debuting on the Russian stage with an original interpretation of W. Shakespeares Makbeth . Production of an apprentice of Krystian Lupa, one of the major directors of contemporaneity, will be an important for the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater stage on its way to studying possibilities for expanding borders of the stage language and search of a new theatrical lexicon.

22.09.2015 Presentation of Liisa Byuklings book Reflection of the Russian Soul in the Mirror of North
Under the frames of the off-program of the Ninth International Alexandrinsky Theater Festival, on September 25, presentation of the book Reflection of the Russian Soul in the Mirror of North by Dr. Liisa Byukling, prominent Finnish theater historian and professor of the Helsinki University, will take place at 15:00 in the Tsars Lobby. The book is dedicated to Finnish-Russian literature and theater connections of the 19th 20th century. Presenting her new book, Liisa Byukling will share with her readers her archive historical findings and living impressions from performances and meetings with masters of the Finnish and Russian stage; she will show unique graphic materials. St. Petersburg theater historians will also take part in the presentation.

21.09.2015 Press-conference on the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater 


On September 24, a meeting dedicated to the new, the third, season of the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater will take place at 16:00. The Theater Director Marat Gatsalov and Director Igor Troilin will tell about the theater and non-theater plans of the venue, premieres, tours, and educational, cinema and musical programs for the 2015/2016 Season.
