On March 26, under the frames of the tour of the Rezo Gabriadze’s Puppet Theater, a meeting with its director, artist, and script writer Rezo Gabriadze and his son, actor and director Leo Gabriadze will take place in the lobby of the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater at 5 p.m.
Rezo Gabriadze was born in 1936 in the City of Kutaisi, Georgia. He got studio artistic education and since 1952, he had been taking part in exhibits as an artist. His artistic jobs are in the collections of numerous state and private collections in the U.S., Russia, Germany, Israel, France, and Japan. His sculptures beautify St. Petersburg and Odessa. Gabriadze is recipient of the USSR State Award, the Rustaveli Award (Georgia), Nica Triumph, Golden Mask (Russia); he has also been honored with the title of the Chevalier of the Order of Literature and Arts of the French Republic. Rezo Gabriadze is author of more than 35 films. In 1981, he founded the Puppet Theater in Tbilisi where he was able to put into action all his talents: of a painter, dramatist, sculptor, and director. Since his very first performance, “Alfred and Violette,” the theater had won all hearts of the public. Rezo Gabriadze’s theater has not once participated in major international theater festivals – in Avignon, Edinburg, New York, Toronto, Belgrade, Charleston, Moscow, and other cities.
