10.03.2016 New Project of the Alexandrinsky Theater - LABORATORY-7

In March 2016, the Alexandrinsky Theater will launch its new project: the LABORATORY-7. The Small Stage in the Seventh Cycle of the Main Building will be the site of the new annual all-Russia producer laboratory.   The main goal of the project is practical and research work in the field of actualization of the Russian classics.  Today, when the matter of interpretation of the classics occupies an essential place in speculations of many prominent figures in the culture, the idea to hold a practical study and provide a site for experimenting on classical texts for young directors and artists of most diverse theater schools of Russia seems to be not only important but absolutely essential.   And, no doubt, we hope that the result, i.e. an actual and modern performance will be accepted by both professionals and the public of the Alexandrinsky Theater.  In this particular case, the creative team will have a chance to produce a performance on one of the Alexandrinsky Theaters stages.

The theme of the Laboratory-7 (2016) will be A. Gaidars short story entitled Chook and Ghek.

Directors and artists under 35 years are invited to take part in the laboratory. Applications should be submitted before June 1, 2016. The application should contain directors explication, stage design, calendar and working schedule for implementation of the idea.
The Expert Council will choose one or two applications for implementation in the 7th cycle.

One can submit applications and/or ask all questions of interest by e-mail: alexnextstage@gmail.com
