18.04.2016 Opening of the Exhibit - A Theater Romance: the Tolubeyev Actor Dynasty
 

On April 20, 2016, the Exhibit Entitled A Theater Romance: the Tolubeyev Actor Dynasty will be open at 4 p.m. at the Museum Apartment of the Samoylov Actors (8 Stremyannaya Str.) The story of the three generations of actors is presented in portraits, photos, stage costumes and sketches, excerpts from films and television shows, and it is as interesting to read as a novel. It tells about fateful meetings, father-son conflicts, dramas of creative pursuits, triumphs and defeats; however, the main storyline of the almost a century-long saga is the love of the theater.

The Alexandrinsky Theater provided the exhibit with fifteen stage costumes of the founders of the family, Peoples Artist of the USSR Yury V. Tolubeyev and Distinguished Artist of RSFSR Tamara I. Alyoshina, created after the sketches of theater artists A.Y. Golovin, N.I. Altman, V.V. Dmitriyev, K. Rudakov, and T.G. Bruni. The exhibit items include Gitanas gown from Meyerholds Masquerade in which the actress had first time stepped onto the stage of the Russian Academy Pushkin Drama Theater in 1940; Sofias gown from the Woes of Wits of 1941 (L.S. Vivien and N.S. Rashevskayas production); two gowns of Julia from the performance The Fiesco Plot (Director A.A. Muzil, 1955); Poloniuss dressing gown (Hamlet in G.M. Kozintsevs production, 1954); the caftan of Boris Godunov (The Great Sovereign, Director L.S. Vivien , 1952), the Mayors frock coat from Gogols The Inspector General (Director L.S. Vivien , 1952), Neschaslivtsevs frock coat (The Forest, Director P. Kozhich, 1948). The exhibit also shows stage costumes of Andrey Tolubeyev and Ekaterina Marusyak from the collection of Tovstonogovs BDT, sketches and photos from the funds of the Museum of Theater and Music Arts and the private archive of the Tolubeyev family.

The Exhibit will last till October 30, 2016.
