On January 15, 16 and 17, the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater for the second time will host the Festival Entitled New Plays for Children. As in the 2015 program, the focus will be on presentation of the contest prizewinning plays; in 2016, these are:  Tommy by Anastasia Bukreyeva, The Marine Princess by Alexey Zaitsev and Macaques, Pizza, and the Destruction by Daria Utkina and Irina Vaskovskaya.   The program of this year festival also includes two children performances of the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater:  The Cricket and The Birthday of the Fairy Tale.
On January 15 and 16, young St. Petersburg directors will present stage versions of the texts, after what discussions with the authors will take place.  The third festival day will start with a meeting with theater historian Alexey Goncharenko (Moscow); the topic of the meeting is Children write plays.  Why? What about? Who for? On the same day, presentation of the special festival project Playwright Laboratory for Teenagers will take place.  Within its frame, readings of four plays created by teenagers of 15-17 years old will be presented.  We invite all Artistic Directors of children theaters, directors, and all interested activists to take part in the Festival.  Young theater goers are invited to come to the readings.  Each performance will be followed by a discussion where both adult professionals and the festival target audience should be able to share their opinions.
